Benetas is a leading not-for-profit provider of aged care services in Victoria. We strive to provide older Victorians, their families and carers with a full range of first-class residential facilities and community services that enable a positive and fulfilling experience of ageing.  

 

As part of our commitment to improving the Quality of Life of our clients, Benetas is embarking on a pilot program to introduce a Volunteer service for our clients living in the Community. The pilot will initially focus on the Eastern metropolitan and Gippsland regions. Reporting to the Benetas Volunteer Coordinator, this new role will build on a strong history of Volunteering within Benetas.

 

The role:

  • Recruit, train, induct and effectively match Volunteers to meet individual client needs  
  • Establish effective processes and procedures
  • Build relationships within Community networks and potential partnering organisations
  • Engage with Community Care / Case Managers, Pastoral Care practitioners and other key stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have;

  • Strong and high level organisational and administration skills
  • Relevant Volunteering, Community Services or other experience
  • The capability to build partnerships and relationships
  • A passion for community development

Of key importance will be your energy, enthusiasm and ability to deliver on project milestones. Competence in Microsoft Office applications and a current Victorian driver’s licence are essential.

Peter Mac, Australia’s foremost cancer centre, provides a comprehensive cancer service to people with cancer and their families.  Our strengths are in our patient-focussed care, our dedication to research and the value we place on our staff, both professionally and personally.   This permanent part time position is offered as a job share (2 days per fortnight, total of 12 hours per fortnight, with flexibility of other days if required).  The main responsibilities are:- 

  • The day to day coordination of 180 – 200 patient support volunteers
  • Offering guidance and support to volunteers
  • Responding to patient and hospital needs and the allocation of tasks
  • Coordinating and recruiting for regular ‘Look Good Feel Better’ Program
  • Servicing and assisting patients, families and carers, staff, and members of the community and general public who access the Volunteer Service for support and enquiries in person, by phone, by mail and by email
  • Assisting patients, families and carers with practical, compassionate fitting and provision of headwear from the Headwear Service and wigs from the Wig Library
  • Liaise with, report to and evaluate the Service with the Manager Volunteer Services
 

You will have a minimum of 3 years experience managing Volunteers, preferably in a similar field, excellent communication skills, solid administrative experience and competent computer skills (Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Internet and intranet, and Publisher).    In this challenging role, you will require compassion, assertiveness, and the ability to use initiative and to prioritise competing demands to achieve effective outcomes in a team environment.  Flexibility and patience are required, as is the ability to work in a ‘swing of the door’ direct service delivery environment.  The Volunteer Service is a high public contact department with over 26,000 contacts now made directly to the Service annually.
