VOLUNTEER SERVICES COORDINATOR

Position Information

As our new Red Cross Volunteer Services Coordinator, you’ll use your energy and professional skills to connect people with a range of vital volunteer opportunities in our community.

We need a clear communicator with a proven history of working with volunteers who also has strong organisational and multi-tasking skills for our fast-paced community services environment.

As Volunteer Services Coordinator, you’ll have responsibility for implementing our volunteer recruitment campaigns and on-going volunteer management. You’ll work to build and maintain important volunteer stakeholder relationships, while also monitoring volunteering trends and developments in South Australia.

Your experience in recruitment methods, plus a qualification in Human Resource Management or Volunteer Management will help us meet our volunteer recruitment strategies.

This position is based in Adelaide CBD and salary packaging options are available.

People from Indigenous backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

Position Requirements

To be successful in the role you will have:

• Relevant qualifications, skills or experience in Recruitment methods
• Knowledge and ability to interpret employment law pertaining to recruitment
• Ability to manage a team of volunteers within the team
• Highly developed organisational skills
• High degree of empathy with volunteer staff and needs of volunteers in the workplace
• Proven problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage a large-scale project successfully
• Demonstrated highly developed word processing skills, intermediate spread sheet and intermediate database use skills
• Records management and general office procedures
• Ability to undertake presentations, orientation and marketing events
• Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people
• Qualifications in Human Resources Management or Volunteer Management

A fantastic opportunity exists for a dynamic, enthusiastic and inspiring Chief Executive to lead the peak body representing volunteer organisations and volunteers in South Australia and the Northern Territory. The mission of Volunteering SA & NT is to promote volunteering and play a key leadership role in advancing volunteering to business, government and the community.


Volunteers make a significant contribution to our country's social, economic, cultural and environmental capital and this key leadership position reflects the importance of the role of volunteering in our community.

As the lead advocate and public face for volunteers in SA & NT, you will have a passion for volunteering and a firm belief in the role of volunteers in the community. Underpinning your outstanding leadership and strategic thinking skills will be a strong values-based ethos and conviction for social inclusion in our community. The role will entail working with (and reporting to) the board to set the organisation's future strategic direction, managing the financial and human resources of the organisation, achieving key operational objectives and ensuring the delivery of high quality volunteer programs and initiatives. 

Essential to your success will be the capacity to build sustainable partnerships and obtain ongoing funding from the private sector and all tiers of government. You will be highly skilled in communications, public speaking, media, networking and relationship building. You will be appropriately qualified and your professional background will demonstrate the relevant experience and political acumen to succeed in this role and advance the cause of volunteering in SA and NT.
