International Volunteer Manager's Day
Established in 1999, International Volunteer Manager's Day is celebrated each year on November 1. It is a day set aside to recognise the important work of volunteer program managers and the international committee overseeing IVMA Day is chaired by OzVPM Director Andy Fryar.

National Volunteer Week (Australia)
In Australia, National Volunteer Week is held during May of each year. The dates for National Volunteer Week 2008 are May 12th - 18th. A list of dates for future years is available on the Volunteering Australia web site.

Volunteer Awareness Week (NZ)

In New Zealand, National 'Volunteer Awareness Week' is held during the third week of June each year. The 2007 dates are Sunday 17 - Saturday 23 June

Volunteer Day Public Holiday (South Australia)

A proclaimed public holiday for volunteers in South Australia has been celebrated for several years now. The day shares celebrations with the Queen's Birthday public holiday on June 8th. To our knowledge this is the only government proclaimed public holiday to celebrate volunteer effort anywhere in the world.

National Volunteer Awards (Australia)
The National Volunteer Awards (formerly the National Community Link awards) were established in 1997 by the National Bank, who in partnership with Volunteering Australia have raised the profile of these awards to be Australia's premiere volunteering showcase.

National Honours Award Scheme
Know of an Australian who has rendered outstanding achievements to the community through their voluntary activity? Why not nominate them for an Australian honours award?

Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Community Business Partnerships
This annual award, established in 1998, seeks to publicly recognise business and community groups who are working together in a ‘spirit of social coalition, to tackle problems of disadvantage and to build stronger local communities’.
