Our Partners

OzVPM is able to bring to the Australasian region a wide variety of resources and up-to-date information from around the world, through our partnership with 'Energize' and it’s President, Susan J Ellis.

Susan J Ellis is respected internationally as a leading author, trainer and commentator on the topic of volunteerism. She has visited Australia on several occasions. She founded Energize in 1977 and since that time has assisted clients throughout North America (48 states and 5 provinces), Europe (8 countries), Asia (3 countries), Latin America and Australia to create or strengthen their volunteer corps. The year 2002 marked Energize's 25th anniversary.

Susan is the author or co-author of eleven books - several of which have been translated into Japanese, Taiwanese, French and Italian. From 1981 to 1987 she was Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Volunteer Administration . She has written more than 90 articles on volunteer management for dozens of publications and writes the national bi-monthly column, "On Volunteers," for The NonProfit Times.

In 2000, she and Steve McCurley launched the field's first online journal, e-Volunteerism: The Electronic Journal of the Volunteer Community, www.e-volunteerism.com , for which she serves as editor.

She was the recipient of the Association for Volunteer Administration's 1989 Harriet Naylor Distinguished Member Service Award. Susan is an active volunteer in a variety of volunteerism associations and several Philadelphia-based community groups.

Founded in 1977 and based in Philadelphia, USA, Energize Inc is an international training, consulting and publishing firm specialising in volunteerism. Energize developed it's web presence in 1997 and has grown into one of the most respected volunteerism resources on the web.

 

 

  Martin J Cowling & People First Total Solutions

Martin J Cowling (BA, Psych, Grad Dip Adult education & Training, Grad dip Human Resource Management) has worked in key management roles for organisations including UNICEF, AIDS Council of NSW, AFS Intercultural programs and The Smith Family. He has strong coaching, training, human resource and volunteer management skills and is renowned internationally as an entertaining, practical and helpful speaker.

Martin believes that people are the key to an organisation's success or often the very reason for failure and he is passionate about ensuring organisations and their staff (both paid and unpaid) have mutually beneficial relationships. He is determined to see the volunteer sector become as strong and effective as possible, achieve community goals whilst giving people who volunteer life changing experiences.

Based in Melbourne, Martin is Director of People First -Total Solutions and he works regularly in partnership with OzVPM in consultation and training provision.

Our Associates

John Waller

John Waller is the owner of Pinnacle Web Productions, a company that creates professional web sites for small and medium businesses.

He is the creator and web master of the OzVPM site, and is involved in offering his expertise in consultancies where web / internet advice is warranted.

John gained an engineering degree in Building Construction from Brighton Polytechnic, UK and a Diploma in Theology in Adelaide, South Australia.

Over a decade of experience in project management and administration with large corporations has given him a strong background in business management, which he now brings to the arena of small business and not-for-profits to give a depth, creative flair and professionalism to their web sites.

John has been involved with the Internet for a number of years and entered the field of professional web design in 1999.

 

 

 Kerrie Spinks

Based in Melbourne, Kerrie plays an important role in the OzVPM network as a moderator of the OzVPM newsgroup.

Kerrie worked as a Volunteer Resource Centre Manager for a decade from 1998 to 2008 (based at Bathurst Information & Neighbourhood Centre) and she now works as a trainer and consultant with People First Total Solutions.

In 2001, Kerrie was a member of the NSW Premier's State Advisory Committee for International Year of Volunteers and she was also the inagural Chairperson of COVERRS Inc (an Incorporated body of the NSW Volunteer Resource Centres Network)

Kerrie's involvement and experience in volunteerism also extends beyond Australia. Kerrie has been a moderator with the CyberVPM newsgroup for many years and during 2000, Kerrie visited a number of Volunteer Resource Centres across Canada.
