The Centre for Volunteering in NSW is currently seeking nominations for this year's '2010 NSW Volunteer of the Year' awards. Awards are presented in several different categories and close on Sept 30. To nominate someone today visit the awards page on the Centre's wesbite
AAVA have also opened nominations for the 2010 'Volunteer Manager of Excellence' Award. Nominations for this award close on September 10 - so get cracking!

New Volunteer Management Report about the impact of Vol Mngmnt in New Zealand
Victoria University in partnership with Volunteering New Zealand have released a report titled 'Managers Matter', which is the result of a study into the impact that sound VM practices make to effective volunteering

National Volunteering Strategy Consultation Paper now available
The Federal Government has been progressing with plans to develop a National Volunteering Strategy. This Strategy will shape the government's vision for volunteering over the next ten years.
The strategy will be released to mark the 10 year anniversary of the United Nations International Year of Volunteers (IYV +10) which will be celebrated through the world in 2011.
The strategy development is now at the community consultation phase and Volunteering Australia would like to encourage you to provide comment to government on the strategy.
